Our Philosophy

MVP's philosophy is to recruit senior specialists with a proven sector track record and local and international expertise as partners on all the projects in which MVP is mandated. 


Sectors in which MVP has been exclusively mandated by its multinational client base include oil and gas, renewable energy, banking and finance, industrial and hospitality and leisure.

Energy Sector

Oil and Gas

MVP’s Energy Department has established a reputation for professionalism and discretion and has represented several IOC’s advising on their North African strategy. Dr Mark Leibster, formerly the CEO of Shell North Africa, has been appointed a Non Executive Director of MVP. 


Renewable Energy 

MVP has signed in May 2019  an exclusive joint venture with Jordan’s leading Renewable energy company Mustakbal Clean Tech to develop small to mid sized projects in selected markets in Africa and has recently signed several EPCM projects in Tunisia.

The Renewal Energy Division is headed by:


 Rafik Benabbes – Head of Renewable Energy Department 


  • Rafik Benabbes is a private equity professional. He is chartered to develop the project pipeline of the platform and coordinate all development activities, including due diligence and investment strategy.

  • Before joining Maghreb Venture Partners in 2019, he was a member of the renewable energy platform of Swicorp, on a Joint-Venture with a world renewable energy leader Acciona Energia. During this period, he has worked on the sourcing and due diligence of over forty potential PV acquisitions in Africa.  

  • Rafik Benabbes was an active member of a $190 M transaction in Egypt, the 186 MWp Solar Project, awarded by Thomson Reuters as the “Global Multilateral Deal Finance of the year 2017”. Rafik Benabbes holds a master degree in finance from Neoma Business School (France).


 Marie-Laure Minier – Strategy Manager of Renewable Energy Department  


  • Marie-Laure Minier, graduated from Paris-Dauphine University in International Business with a specialization in commodity  trading, has worked as a strategy analyst in the Engie's corporate strategy department and in the LVMH’s Executive Management in Paris.

  • Throughout her career, she has worked with executive  committees to support strategic decision-making. She is chartered to pilot and coordinate the strategic plan design and execution , to manage market researches and ad-hoc transversal strategic initiatives.

Industrial Sector 

Current advisers (2018) to a European multinational on the proposed Tunisian Government privatisation of Carthago Ciment, the largest cement operator in Tunisia.

Ongoing strategic review on behalf of an international cement operator of acquisitions in selected Sub-Saharan African markets. 

Banking and Finance 

Previous advisors to a European Bank on its acquisition and post-acquisition strategy of a controlling stake in a private Libyan Bank. 

Ongoing strategic review of the Libyan banking sector on behalf of an international private equity group. 

Hotel, Tourism and Leisure Sector (HTL)

A multi disciplined  and multinational team with local and international expertise in the sector.


Currently advisers and partners of Meryanne Loum Martin, doyenne of the Marrakesh hospitality sector and owner of Jnane Tamsna ( on the proposed Six Senses Marrakesh project.


Jan Hein Simmons


  • Jan Hein has spent his 30+ year professional career in the international hotel industry. A Dutch national, he has developed, implemented and managed successful operational and commercial concepts in different roles, while working on three continents for various international hotel chains. 

  • Former CEO of an international hotel group of 53 properties and 9000 rooms (NH Hotels) he brings all levels of hospitality experience to the MVP team.


Thorsten Wulfes

  • A German citizen, passionate about sales and marketing, Thorsten has an exceptional background within the prime real estate sector. He played an integral part in the success of several high-profile ventures. 

  • These included the holiday ownership divisions of Marriott International. 

  • Over the last twenty years he has worked on four different continents in leading positions with multi lingual sales teams and has initiated and implemented distinctive marketing strategies within the sector.

  • Thorsten brings his residential real estate development and sales and marketing expertise to the MVP team.
